The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced individual as Superintendent - Financial Accounting.

About the role Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Superintendent Financial Accounting ensures the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting for the Porgera operation. The role leads the month-end close, manages audit deliverables, and supports fixed asset and treasury accounting. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong technical expertise, ownership of deliverables, and coaching of junior accountants.

In this role, you will: Lead the month-end close and reporting process to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with IFRS and corporate timelines. Review and approve journals, reconciliations, and adjustments prepared by junior accountants. Ensure balance sheet integrity through regular reconciliations, variance analysis, and timely resolution of unreconciled balances. Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, reports, and supporting documentation for audits and management reviews.

Manage fixed assets and capital accounting, including capitalization, transfers, depreciation, and disposals. Oversee cash flow accounting processes, intercompany reconciliations, and treasury transactions. Coordinate bullion sales and revenue recognition. Manage treasury and banking operations for all Porgera entities. Provide support during internal and external audits, ensuring timely delivery of all audit requests. Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes and ERP data integrity.

Coach and mentor junior team members to develop their technical and professional capabilities. About You You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce and are CPA/CA certified (or equivalent). You have over 5 years of experience in financial accounting within mining or large-scale operations and a proven record of leading month-end processes and mentoring team members. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate accountability, technical precision, and leadership by example.

Desirable: Experience in a remote or FIFO mining environment. Understanding of PNG tax and mining legislation. Postgraduate qualifications in finance or business. Preferred Systems Knowledge SAP - FICO Xeras OneStream Microsoft Excel Oracle Account Reconciliation Cloud Service (ARCs) Competencies and Skills Financial Acumen : Strong understanding of financial accounting, treasury management and audit processes.

Business Partnering: Proven ability to build relationships with senior leaders and operational teams, drive financial accountability, and provide clear insights to help with decision-making. Leadership and Team Development: The ability to lead a develop a high-performing team, providing mentorship and ensuring strong accountability. Systems and Data Management : Proficiency in SAP FICO, Xeras, and OneStream, along with strong Excel skills for financial modeling and reporting process improvement.

Internal and External Audit : Proven experience managing the external audit for a large organization.
